Tayvion Galloway

Purdue assistant Justin Sinz breaks down the Boilermakers’ lone 2024 TE signee: Tayvion Galloway.

“First of all to you, Tayvion loves football, and that’s a big key. When you love ball, you pour everything into it, and you can tell with his play that he does because he’s aggressive, he finishes plays, he finishes catches downhill. Obviously a guy who played in a really good program and has a great frame and a big catch radius. And someone that we’re really excited to get here and to be kind of the next piece of that room that’s had a long storied tradition of some really good players.

“The biggest (thing he needs to improve) will be the strength and size component. Obviously, Tay’s got the length. But it’s different when you’re blocking 21-22-year olds, especially defensive linemen, at the point of attack. So, that’ll be a little bit of an adjustment, but he’s getting here in the spring. So that gives him a whole spring of being with Coach Ro (strength coach Kiero Small) and his staff, and then also seeing how he measures up against our guys in spring ball. So, he’s getting the advance start on that, which I think is awesome for him.

“I mean, we saw this year George (Burhenn) (playing as a true freshman last year). You have a certain number in that room, but we saw with Max (Klare) and then Garrett (Miller), if guys started going down, you only have four or five guys. And with what Coach (Graham) Harrell wants to do on offense, we’ll be playing with two (tight ends) quite a bit. So, there’s no doubt that he could be on the field early. He’s gonna have to come in and earn that because it is a good room. But, yeah, there’s no question that he brings a lot of value. Even in his special teams ability, as well, as Coach P (special teams analyst Chris Petrilli) wants big bodies, guys that can run and he’s every bit of that.
