Tim Newton completed his 14th year as Purdue football's play-by-play radio announcer.
The longtime voice of Purdue football and women’s basketball Tim Newton celebrates birthday No. 63 (Dec. 5, 2023) with GoldandBlack.com. Newton will be broadcasting his 1000th Boilermaker women’s game this season. He was named the 2021 Indiana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association (NSMA).
As the top sportscaster in the state, Newton became the first broadcaster to earn the award at the school since Joe McConnell in 2000. The fall of 2023 was Newton’s 29th football season with the Boilermaker Sports Network. He spent the first 15 years with the network as a producer and host before transitioning into the play-by-play chair as the “Voice of Purdue Football” for the past 14 seasons.
