Purdue's Daniel Jacobsen wins gold with Team USA at FIBA U19 World Cup

Purdue center Daniel Jacobsen picked up some hardware on Sunday afternoon, winning a gold medal at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland with Team USA. Jacobsen and Team USA took down Germany on the gold medal matchup on Sunday, coasting to a 109-76 victory.
The Boilermaker big man tallied eight points on 4 of 6 shooting from the field and grabbed two rebounds in the win. That brought his World Cup totals to 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game across seven appearances with the United States National Team, as well as 60% shooting from the field and a plus/minus of 112 for the tournament.

Sunday’s win marked the second straight year of winning international accolades for Jacobsen with Team USA. In 2024, he was a part of the USA Basketball U18 National Team, which took home a gold medal in the Americup in Argentina. He averaged 9.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game with that squad, and set a Team USA Americup tournament record with 19 blocked shots.
The tournament was Jacobsen’s first live action since suffering a broken leg just two games into his freshman campaign. The 7-foot-4 center figures to be a prominent member of coach Matt Painter’s rotation in 2025-26 and gained valuable reps with the star-studded USA team in Switzerland, as well as another gold medal for his collection.
