Jahmal Edrine 45

Grades and notes:

  • After a dazzling grade in his first start, Ryan Browne came back to earth, earning a pedestrian grade. He did not score particularly well as a passer, but he did grade alright as a runner.
  • Top honors went to Reggie Love III, who put together a nice game on just 19 snaps.
  • Purdue’s pass blocking grades came back better than I expected, though the right side of the offensive line was notably better than the left side.
  • The grades were not so kind to Purdue’s run-blocking efforts, aside from Marcus Mbow. He had a really nice grade in this one despite a pair of penalties.
  • Middling grades all over for Purdue’s pass-catching targets, reflective of the inability to get open downfield.
  • There weren’t any complete eyesores on the grade sheet, but nothing stood out as overwhelmingly positive aside from Love and Mbow.

Ryan Browne’s passing chart:

  • Clean: 3-7, 55 yards
  • Under pressure: 6-12, 37 yards, INT (poor grade)
  • Not blitzed: 5-11, 60 yards, INT
  • Blitzed: 4-8, 32 yards
  • Play action: 5-8, 59 yards
  • No play action: 4-11, 33 yards, INT
  • Screen: 0-0
  • No screen: 9-19, 92 yards, INT
  • Browne’s average depth of target: 9.8 yards downfield
  • The grades aren’t pretty. He did grade alright in the play action game.
  • Zero “big-time throws” to two “turnover-worthy throws”
  • Just 2-9 when throwing ten or more yards down the field
  • No drops on the day for Purdue’s pass catchers

Running game:

  • 5.8 yards per carry for Purdue when you adjust out sack losses
  • Purdue’s ball carriers did force 12 missed tackles by Oregon defenders
  • 148 of Purdue’s 220 yards came after contact
  • Reggie Love III graded as Purdue’s best runner

Mo Omonode 11
Drake Carlson 10
Jireh Ojata 8
Jamarius Dinkins 8
Tarrion Grant 3
Owen Davis 2
Anthony Brown 2

Grades and notes:

  • Not a banner day for Purdue’s defense here, as middling-to-poor grades filled the scorecard
  • Top honors: Shitta Sillah on limited snaps, Antonio Stevens for the regulars
  • Only nine missed tackles, but four came from Kydran Jenkins and two for Yanni Karlaftis
  • Purdue pressured Gabriel just three times on 25 pass attempts. Not a great percentage there.
  • Tough day for the linebackers. Hudson Miller graded alright, but a tough day for Jenkins and Karlaftis,
  • Smiley Bradford saw a high snap volume, but he did not grade out well, earning the lowest score on the defense
  • Just one pass breakup by the Purdue defense
  • Tough day for Dillon Thieneman. One missed tackle, but poor grades in run defense and in coverage.

Dillon Gabriel’s passing chart

  • Clean: 20-24, 279 yards, 2 TD, INT (great grade)
  • Under pressure: 1-2, 11 yards
