Down goes No. 1 Purdue at Northwestern ... again

EVANSTON, Ill. — Turnovers were bound to cost Purdue eventually.
Friday night, they did, as 17 of them loomed large in the top-ranked Boilermakers stumbling out of the gate to start Big Ten playing, falling in OT at Northwestern, 92-88.
Boo Buie’s runner with 3.2 seconds left in regulation nearly won it for Northwestern without the extra session. Buie scored 29 points for the Wildcats, who handed the Boilermakers a loss in their Big Ten opener and another disappointing December loss amidst a strong non-conference season.
