GoldandBlack.com: Why Purdue for you?
Browne: The great history of quarterbacks. That’s definitely the biggest thing. Drew Brees, Jim Everett, Kyle Orton, just a great history quarterbacks and they produce NFL quarterbacks. I have high expectations for myself and I think Purdue’s the best place to get me there.
GoldandBlack.com: Tell us about your circuitous path to Purdue?
Browne: It’s been a really wild. I’ve learned a lot from it. And I’m really happy that I did it. I started high school in Michigan. When COVID hit, I moved down to Florida. Spent the rest of my high school career down there, my junior and senior years. Graduated from Venice High School in 2021 and thought I was better than what my offers were. And I wanted to prove that to myself because I think I can do it. So, I went to prep school in New York and got it done.
GoldandBlack.com: You went to two high schools in Florida, right?
Browne: Yep, I did. I went to Riverview High School for the first half of my junior year. Then the second half of my junior year and the rest of my senior year, I was at Venice High School. The reason for that was when I was moving down to Florida, I was moving in with friends of my family because my parents felt more comfortable with me being there.
GoldandBlack.com: At Venice High, you lived by yourself, right?
Browne: I did. I was down there by myself. It was great. I learned a lot from it. I think I’ll be a lot better off at the next level because I’ve done it before.

GoldandBlack.com: You were the Florida Class 8A player of the year?
Browne: Yes, and I was runner-up for Mr. Football. So, it always gets me I was one guy short of that.
GoldandBlack.com: How did you benefit from your prep school season at Milford Academy in New York?
Browne: The biggest thing is just bet on yourself. If you ever have a doubt about something, if you think you can do something, you can do it. But you have to put the work in to do it. I made the decision to take an extra year, but I didn’t just say that and go and do it. I put an unbelievable amount of work in to back my decision. And it paid off. So, work pays off if you do it the right way.

GoldandBlack.com: Describe your skill-set?
Browne: Obviously, all quarterbacks should be leaders. So, that’s a given. But I think I’m a very smart player. I know how to identify a defense. I know where to go with the ball, depending on different looks. I think I make a lot of good decisions. I minimize errors. And that’s the biggest thing, just being a leader, not turning the ball over, making good decisions and making plays when somebody needs one.
GoldandBlack.com: What do you think of the offense Ryan Walters and Graham Harrell are going to run?
Browne: I’m super excited about it. I had a chance to meet with them the day before the dead period. I took a long official visit because before I signed, I wanted to be able to meet Coach Walters and Coach Harrell. And it was really great. I had a nice hour-long sitdown meeting with Coach Harrell. We talked about his offense. And it seems like he knows how to teach quarterbacks. So, that’s a great thing for me to make me feel comfortable in his offense.
