'Family feeling' drew Arkansas S Anthony Brown to Purdue
It was a family feeling that attracted Anthony Brown from Arkansas to Purdue. Now, the Boilermakers have a talented safety to bolster their secondary under new coach Ryan Walters.
“It’s a brotherhood between the players and the coaches,” Brown told GoldandBlack.com. “This is a good group of coaches.”
Brown entered the portal on January 11th. Two days later, he landed at Purdue. He will have four years of eligibility in West Lafayette after arriving at Arkansas as a member of the Class of 2022. What is Purdue getting?
“I’m a student of the game,” said Brown, who redshirted in 2022. “When I got to Arkansas, I emphasized making plays on the ball. I had quite a few in the fall. I also like to hit. But, it’s my understanding of the game that helps me on the field. I like to study tape.”
Brown will join a Purdue secondary that welcomes back both starting safeties: Cam Allen and Sanoussi Kane.
Brown grew up in Detroit but moved to Tennessee for high school following the death of his mother. He lived with a brother in Jackson, Tenn.
Coming out of Milan High, Brown was recruited to Arkansas by current Boilermaker cornerbacks coach Sam Carter, who was at Ole Miss last season after leaving the Razorbacks following the 2021 season.
