Ryan Browne is back, committing to Purdue for a second time in his career on Friday night.

The former Boilermaker quarterback pledged to Purdue after leaving via the portal in December for North Carolina. Now, Browne is back in West Lafayette with three years of eligibility.

Browne initially committed to Purdue way back in October 2022 when Jeff Brohm was the head coach.

Browne will enter an unsettled quarterback situation that also will include Malachi SingletonEvans Chuba and Bennett Meredith. One signal-caller already has jumped into the portal: EJ Colson.

Browne has a dual-threat style that would seem to meld with the offense of first-year coach Barry Odom.

The 6-4, 210-pound Browne showed promise last season at Purdue as a redshirt freshman. He played in eight games, making starts in October at Illinois and vs. Oregon–when Hudson Card was injured.

Browne nearly delivered a win at Illinois, as the Boilermakers fell, 50-49, in OT. He threw for 297 yards (18-of-26 passing, 69 percent) and 3 TDs and ran for 118 yards on 17 carries (6.9 ypc) vs. the Illini.

Browne completed 43-of-76 passes (56.6 percentage) for 532 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in 2024. He also ran for 155 yards last season (3.1 yards per carry) during a 1-11 campaign that saw Purdue move on from Ryan Walters.

Browne is Purdue’s sixth commitment from the portal, joining Memphis DB Chalil Cummings, Tulsa WR Corey Smith, Tulane OL Jude McCoskey, Bowling Green DL Marcus Moore and LB Sanders Ellis of Tennessee State.
