CARMEL —  Twice on Saturday, Pike was pushed at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. Twice, Purdue 2027 priority target Isaiah Hill came up big to lead one of the state’s most talented teams to wins.

First, Hill scored 10 third-quarter points — two threes and two dunks — to flip a game against Northview that the Red Devils trailed at half.

Then, against a terrific Silver Creek team, the 7-footer’s putback dunk in the game’s final two seconds was the difference in a 56-55 win.

Emerging as an elite prospect in the junior class, Hill has looked the part of a national recruit, though only a sparse group of high-major assistant coaches have tracked him in Carmel thus far, though there are two more games Sunday.

Purdue is known to have long been way ahead on Hill, and his following from other schools during this open recruiting weekend may reflect.

NOAH SMITH SHINES AGAIN

After posting 28- and 29-point games on Friday for Plainfield on Friday, Class of 2026 forward Noah Smith was very good again on Saturday in wins over Luke Ertel-less Mount Vernon, then Cathedral, totaling 20 points and double-digit rebounds vs. the Irish.

The 6-foot-9 forward is a big-time multi-level shooter and highly efficient scorer around the rim, but his rebounding vs. Cathedral really stood out, as he grabbed several physical, contested boards in crowds to help Plainfield hold Cathedral off in the final minutes.

Purdue has maintained interest in Smith since he was a freshman, and will undoubtedly keeping watching him closely this weekend and into July as it rounds up new forward targets for what should be a robust 2026 signing class.

Purdue, Notre Dame and DePaul had assistant coaches at Smith’s games on Saturday.

PURDUE’S WHEREABOUTS

Assistant coaches P.J. Thompson and Brandon Brantley were at Charlie Hughes Saturday, while Matt Painter saw Trey Thompson in the morning, then is believed to have traveled to Boston for newly offered forward Quinn Costello and others at the prep school event out east. Paul Lusk attended an event in Texas.
