Memphis’ Tahj Ra-El is headed to Purdue via the transfer portal, GoldandBlack.com has learned. He will have one year of eligibility.

The 6-2, 190-pound Ra-El began his career at Old Dominion, where he played his first three seasons and made 133 tackles with six TFLs and an interception. He attended Myers Park High in Charlotte, N.C.

Ra-El moved on to Memphis in 2024, playing and starting in four games for the Tigers, making 19 tackles with an interception. He entered the portal in October.

Purdue recently hired Memphis defensive backs coach Charles Clark to coach the secondary.

Ra-El is Purdue’s eighth portal commitment and first d-back.
