New Mexico OL DJ Wingfield commits to Purdue
Purdue has landed its third portal commitment: DJ Wingfield.
The 6-4, 289-pound New Mexico offensive lineman visited Purdue last weekend. He has one year of eligibility. Wingfield could play guard or tackle for the Boilermakers and is expected to compete for a starting spot. He had offers from Fresno State, Houston, UAB, Georgia Southern, UNLV, North Texas and Texas-San Antonio, among others.
Wingfield is Purdue’s second o-line commit of the day and third of this portal cycle, joining Ball State’s Corey Stewart and Notre Dame’s Joey Tanona.
A Hawthorne, Calif., native, who played at Redondo Union High, Wingfield began his career at El Camino Junior College in California, playing for two years before signing with New Mexico in the class of 2022. He played all 22 games over two seasons at El Camino.
