Points After: Purdue's OT loss to Northwestern
Positioned to finally snap a six-game losing streak and win in its first FBS game this year, Purdue took another gut punch, losing 26-20 to Northwestern in overtime.
After his team rallied from down 17-3, Ryan Walters went for a fourth-and-six in overtime, which failed. Northwestern scored a walk-off touchdown two plays later.
Purdue tied the game at 20 with 5:16 to play with a 75-yard drive capped by a one-yard touchdown run by Devin Mockobee.
The Boilermakers trailed 17-3 late in the first half before Hudson Card engineered an 87-yard two-minute drill finished off by a touchdown throw to Jahmal Edrine, sparking Purdue’s comeback.

A few quick takeaways …
• This was a good look at what Hudson Card‘s Purdue career should have been to this point.
• Third-and-long defense remains an abomination for Purdue. This was a very mediocre Northwestern offense that converted three third downs of 10 or more yards
• Purdue mismanaged a key first-half sequence, switching quarterbacks — as was the plan — after Card started well, taking the air out of the offense. Then, with Ryan Browne at QB, it went for a fourth-and-four in Boilermaker territory, failed and set up the Northwestern TD that put them ahead 17-3.
