NCAA March Madness Bracket preview: Purdue joins Alabama, Houston, Kansas as No. 1 seeds

WEST LAFAYETTE – As of Saturday, Purdue is a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

The NCAA Selection Committee revealed its top 16 seeds during its March Madness preview show.

Based on the in-season projections, the Boilermakers would be the No. 1 seed in the East Region (New York). The committee placed UCLA as the No. 2 seed, followed by Iowa State at No. 3 and Marquette at No. 4 in the East.

The other No. 1 seeds – Alabama, Houston and Kansas.

Things will change before Selection Sunday as team will move up and down seed lines based on what transpires during the final stretch of the regular season and in conference tournaments. Saturday is a snapshot is where the top 16 seeds stand at the moment.

If Purdue remains a No. 1 seed on Selection Sunday, it would mark the first time since 1996 the Boilermakers landed on the top line.

South Region: Alabama, Baylor, Virginia, Indiana

Midwest: Houston, Texas, Tennessee, Xavier

East: Purdue, UCLA, Iowa State, Marquette

West: Kansas, Arizona, Kansas State, Gonzaga
