CB Markevious Brown has stepped away from the team.

The 5-11, 180-pound senior had started all four games in 2024, making nine tackles with a team-high three passes broken up.

A statement from the Purdue football program read: “It is necessary for Markevious Brown to step away from the team at this time. As of today, it is our expectation that he will rejoin the program for the 2025 season. This is a personal matter, and we will have no additional comments.”

With Brown gone, junior Botros Alisandro is expected to start opposite Nyland Green, a Georgia transfer who made his debut last week after dealing with a foot injury.

Brown appeared in all 12 games with 11 starts in his first season as a Boilermaker last year after transferring from Ole Miss. He recorded 45 tackles, including 32 solo and three tackles-for-loss, to go along with a team-high two forced fumbles.

Purdue (1-3 overall; 0-1 Big Ten) plays at Wisconsin (2-2; 0-1) today at noon ET (BTN).
