Purdue center Will Berg sidelined by sprained foot
Purdue sophomore center Will Berg will be sidelined at least one game after spraining his foot in practice following the Boilermakers’ holiday break.
Berg will miss Sunday’s game vs. Toledo, then is “day to day” from there, Coach Matt Painter said following Saturday’s practice. Purdue has Monday off before preparing for Thursday’s Big Ten re-opener at Minnesota.

The 7-plus-footer averages 9.3 minutes per game, but his size has been useful against bigger lineups, backing up Trey Kaufman-Renn. Berg started three games following freshman Daniel Jacobsen‘s season-ending injury in Game 2.
With Kaufman-Renn now serving as Purdue’s primary center, Caleb Furst was already the Boilermakers’ first bigman off the bench. Though Berg’s usage lately has largely been matchup-dependent, his absence might move freshman Raleigh Burgess up in the rotation.
