Purdue gets commitment from D3 OLB Jireh Ojata
Purdue has added a third OLB from the portal, securing a commitment Jireh Ojata of Division 3 Franklin College today. He has one year of eligibility.
The 6-4, 260-pound Ojata played at Carmel High and figures to be used as a depth player for an OLB spot that has also added Shitta Sillah of Boston College and C.J. Madden of Georgia from the portal this offseason. Purdue recently saw OLB Nic Scourton enter the portal.
Ojata is Purdue’s 12th portal commitment.
Ojata is a three-time first-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selection and was the 2023 HCAC Defensive Player of the Year, when as a senior he led the conference in tackles for loss and was second in the HCAC in sacks with seven. Ojata also had seven QB hurries, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and four blocked kicks last season.
