The hire is expected to augment Purdue’s in-state recruiting efforts. The well-respected Simmons has deep roots in Indiana, having been a prep coach in the state for 23 years.
Simmons was head coach at Ben Davis High in Indianapolis from 2018-22. Prior to Ben Davis, he was the head coach for Noblesville High School from 2016-18. Before being promoted to head coach, he was Noblesville’s offensive coordinator from 2013-15 and also helped as a position coach for tight ends, quarterbacks and the offensive line at Noblesville.
Simmons has also coached at Hamilton Heights (1999-2005; 2009-11) and Ben Davis (2006-08).
Simmons’ son, Brady, is a walk-on wideout at Indiana.
