Purdue in the Pros: Week 3
Of the 12 Purdue players on NFL active rosters, nine suited up for their teams in week three of the season. How did they perform? GoldandBlack.com takes a look in our weekly Purdue in the Pros roundup.
LB MARKUS BAILEY – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Bailey’s 20 plays all came on special teams in Cincinnati’s 19-16 Monday night win over the LA Rams. While the defensive rotation remains difficult to crack, Bailey continues to provide a key presence on special teams. The Bengals take on the Titans this week in a 1 p.m. E.T. kickoff.
LB DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS
Barnes started again at linebacker as the Lions improved to 2-1 on Sunday, playing 48 of 67 snaps and recording a tackle and two QB pressures. Even after the Lions drafted a linebacker in the first round, Barnes remains a key cog of the defense. Detroit heads to Green Bay for a big division showdown on Thursday Night Football.
WR DAVID BELL – CLEVELAND BROWNS
Bell played 10 snaps in Cleveland’s 27-3 win over Tennessee, but he did not record any stats. His role remains sporadic in the Browns offense, but he’ll look to get in the stat book again when they host Baltimore at 1 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
LB JA’WHAUN BENTLEY – NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
The sixth-year linebacker played all 63 snaps in the Patriots’ 15-10 win over the Jets, recording four tackles and three pressures of the opposing quarterback. It’s another strong start for Bentley, who’s become one of the faces of the New England franchise in recent seasons. The Patriots will get a national audience as they take on the Cowboys at 4:25 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
TE PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Durham again remained inactive on Monday night as the Buccaneers fell 25-11 against Philadelphia. Tampa Bay heads to New Orleans for a divisional showdown at 1 p.m. this weekend.
LB JALEN GRAHAM – SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Graham was inactive for the 49ers’ 30-12 win over the New York Giants. The Niners host the Arizona Cardinals for a 4:25 p.m. E.T. kickoff hoping to remain unbeaten.
TE BRYCEN HOPKINS – LOS ANGELES RAMS
Hopkins played just a pair of snaps, recording no stats, in the Rams’ 19-16 loss to Cincinnati on Monday night. As snaps get tight behind Tyler Higbee, Hopkins’ opportunities in the passing game remain limited.

WR CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS
Jones returned four punts for 45 yards and added a six-yard reception in the Bengals’ Monday night victory over the Rams. He’ll continue to field punts, but his reception marked his first in the NFL, as he may start to see more action as a receiver. The Bengals take on Tennessee at 1 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
DE GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
As the Chiefs dominated the Bears in a 41-10 win, Karlaftis built on his strong first two games, pressuring the quarterback eight times and recording a sack. He’ll play under the bright lights this week, as Kansas City takes on the Jets on Sunday Night Football at 8:20 p.m. E.T.
WR RONDALE MOORE – ARIZONA CARDINALS
Moore ran the ball three times for 54 yards and a touchdown and tallied four receptions in the Cardinals’ shocking win over the Cowboys. Through three games, Moore looks like a key piece of the Arizona offense. Now in the win column, the Cardinals travel to San Francisco for a 4:25 p.m. E.T. divisional matchup.
RB RAHEEM MOSTERT – MIAMI DOLPHINS
Mostert remains red-hot, turning in his finest performance as a pro yet in the Dolphins’ historic 70-20 (yes, 70) win over the Broncos. He carried the ball 13 times for 82 yards and three touchdowns while tacking on seven receptions for 60 yards and another score. Through three games, Mostert sits at 319 total yards and six touchdowns. He’ll seek to continue building a strong campaign as Miami heads north to Buffalo for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sunday.
QB AIDAN O’CONNELL – LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
O’Connell remained inactive in week three as the Raiders fell 23-18 against Pittsburgh. With questions surrounding the health of Raiders starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo, O’Connell could be active on Sunday when Vegas heads to the Chargers at 4:05 p.m. E.T.
