Purdue lands commitment from Texas DL Caleb Mitchell Irving
Purdue landed one of its biggest recruits yet in the Class of 2024 when three-star defensive lineman DL Caleb Mitchell Irving pledged to the Boilermakers on Wednesday after taking an official visit this past weekend.
The 6-2, 220-pound product of Parish Episcopal School in DeSoto, Texas, a Dallas suburb, Mitchell Irving is Purdue’s second four-star commit in the Class of 2024, joining S Luke Williams.
Mitchell Irving had offers from Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State and Michigan, among others.

Mitchell Irving visited Purdue this winter and came away impressed. He returned for the Boilermakers’ final spring practice on April 22 before last weekend’s official visit.
“Purdue is a high school on my list,” he told GoldandBlack.com in March. “When I went there, I got a lot of love. I felt comfortable on the campus. Seeing the vibe and how it really is. Coaches can tell you one thing, but you have to see it for yourself.”
Mitchell Irving is the first defensive lineman and 11th commitment overall in Purdue’s 2024 class.
