Purdue lands years-long priority target Gicarri Harris, the recruit it had to have
Purdue has its man, the recruit it, objectively speaking, needed: Consensus four-star and top-100-ranked combo guard Gicarri Harris, the Boilermakers’ sixth and almost certainly final Class of 2024 recruit and a profoundly important one.
“It’s been a tough decision with all the amazing offers, programs and support that I have received on this journey,” Harris said to On3. “I am excited to announce that I have committed to Purdue!”
The 6-foot-4 combo guard fills a ball-handling need for Purdue but also brings a physical profile and demeanor and defensive tenacity and versatility that the Boilermakers otherwise do not have.
‘I just want to do whatever it takes to win,” Harris has said. “Defense is probably the most important thing.”

And, he is a proven three-point shooter, an excellent spot-up shooter, in fact.
Harris, a son of Purdue legend Glenn Robinson, also officially visited Virginia Tech, LSU, Georgia Tech and Miami (Fla.), in addition to Purdue last weekend. He took junior year visits to Purdue and Stanford, and an unofficial to Georgia. They all offered, as did numerous others.
Harris joins wing Kanon Catchings, guards Jack Benter and CJ Cox and big men Raleigh Burgess and Daniel Jacobsen as Purdue’s 2024 commitments.
