Purdue LB Jacob Wahlberg has entered the portal
In a bit of a surprise, Purdue linebacker Jacob Wahlberg has entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer. He is a fifth-year senior with two years of eligibility.
Wahlberg was expected likely to start at one of the two inside linebacker spots on the Boilermaker defense, an inside ‘backer unit that is left with O.C. Brothers, Clyde Washington, Yanni Karlaftis, Domanick Moon and Owen Davis.

Wahlberg arrived as part of the Class of 2019, redshirting that fall and playing mostly on special teams and in reserve during his four seasons in West Lafayette. He played for five defensive coordinators at Purdue: Nick Holt, Bob Diaco, Brad Lambert, Ron English and Kevin Kane.
The 6-4, 235-pound native of Muskegon, Mich., played in 28 games for Purdue, notching 47 tackles with one TFL, two interceptions and a forced fumble. Wahlberg started one game at Purdue: at Maryland in 2022. He made a career-high 41 tackles last season with an interception.
