Purdue names James Shibest special teams coach

Purdue coach Barry Odom has his special teams coach, tabbing James Shibest, per a school release on Friday.
The 60-year-old Shibest spent the last two years at UNLV under Odom, who was introduced as head coach at Purdue last week after leading the Rebels to a 19-8 mark in 2023-24.

Shibest has coordinated special teams at Arkansas (2000-07), Ole Miss (2008-11), Memphis (2012-15) and Virginia Tech (2015-21).
Purdue has now officially hired eight assistants: Shibest, DC/LBs Mike Scherer, DBs Charles Clark, QB Darin Hinshaw, DE Jake Trump, DL Kelvin Green, OC/TE Josh Henson and RB Lamar Conard.
