Purdue picks Memphis' Charles Clark to coach defensive backs

Purdue coach Barry Odom has his defensive backs coach, tabbing Charles Clark of Memphis per a school release on Friday.
Clark worked at Memphis the last five seasons, serving as assistant head coach/defensive backs in 2024.
Clark came to Memphis after spending the 2019 season on the staff at Ole Miss as the program’s secondary coach.

Clark also has coached the secondary at Ole Miss, Oregon, Colorado, San Jose State and Duke.
A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for Ole Miss from 2003-06, Clark appeared in 47 games, with 34 consecutive starts to end his career.
Purdue has now officially hired six assistants: Clark, QB Darin Hinshaw, DE Jake Trump, DL Kelvin Green, OC/TE Josh Henson and RB Lamar Conard.
