Purdue picks up Big Ten punter from portal

Purdue has enhanced its special teams, netting a commitment from Nebraska punter Jack McCallister on Tuesday. He is Purdue’s 19th portal commitment in April.
McCallister, who transferred to Nebraska from Washington in December with one year of eligibility, is moving on because Nebraska switched to a new special team coordinator who wants a punter who can execute rugby style. McCallister can’t do that.
Last season at Washington, the 6-0, 205-pound McCallister punted 36 times, averaging 44.0 yards and having 12 of his 36 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. Eight of his 36 punts in 2024 went 50 yards or more.
