Another Purdue player has entered the portal. And, it’s a big one: QB Brady Allen.
The 6-5, 205-pound true freshman was a four-star quarterback and the prize of the Boilermakers’ 2022 recruiting class.
Allen’s departure means Purdue is set to have only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in the spring: redshirt junior Michael Alaimo and incoming freshman Ryan Browne, who is enrolling early.
Allen was thought to be the quarterback of the future under former coach Jeff Brohm, who left to coach Louisville earlier this month. Allen arrived on campus early, enrolling in January 2022 to get a jump on his career. Now, the 2021 Indiana Mr. Football from Gibson Southern High is gone.

Purdue is thought to be shopping the portal for a signal-caller for the offense of new coach Ryan Walters, who has hired Graham Harrell as offensive coordinator. It is believed Harrell will operate an attack based on the “Air Raid” concepts he learned as a quarterback at Texas Tech under Mike Leach, whom Harrell later worked under at Washington State.
Allen is the ninth Purdue scholarship player to enter the portal since December 5th and the fifth to do so since December 19th.
