West Lafayette, Ind. – The Boilermakers are set to split the week with a home and away showing in Week 2 of Big Ten play. No. 10 Purdue will open the weekend at Northwestern with an 8 p.m. start on B1G+. Then, Purdue will return home to take on Michigan State on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.

PURDUE VS. NORTHWESTERN: RECENT HISTORY AT A GLANCE

• The Boilermakers have lost the last two matchups against the Wildcats, losing in five on 10/1/23 in West Lafayette and 10/28/22 in five.
• Last season’s meeting was a reverse sweep for the Wildcats (25-17, 25-15, 25-27, 11-25, 12-15). Purdue nearly had a sweep when the team tied the score, 25-25 in Set 3. In the match, Eva Hudson was errorless through three sets (14-0-36).

PURDUE VS. MICHIGAN STATE: RECENT HISTORY AT A GLANCE

• Purdue has won the last three consecutive matches against MSU and own a 7-3 record over the last 10 meetings.
• During Dave Shondell‘s tenure, Purdue owns a 13-4 record against Michigan State in West Lafayette. They have never been swept by the Spartans on their home turf under Shondell.
• The two teams met in the regular-season finale last year, in which Eva Hudson reached her 1,000th kill to become the fastest Boilermaker in program history to accomplish the feat. She did so with a career-high-tying .500 attack % and a double-double of 21 kills, 10 digs. The win also solidified Purdue to finish third in the Big Ten standings. The Boilers hit .324% in the match, the highest clip in Big Ten play that season.

PURDUE: QUICK HITS

• Purdue is #10 in the nation in blocks per set (2.93) and #20 in hitting % (.278).
• Last week Eva Hudson and Chloe Chicoine were named to the AVCA Player of the Year Watch List.
• Three Boilers are averaging 2.5 kills per set or higher: Hudson (4.20), Chicoine (3.35) and Colvin (2.61).
• Purdue is 32-14 in sets won this season.
• The Boilers are averaging .278 hitting %. To put in perspective, it would rank as #3 in Purdue single-season history if things were to end today.
• The Boilermakers adjustments during a match have led to improved play from first to second set.
• Raven Colvin is #2 in the nation in blocks and is averaging a .435 hitting %, which would set a program record if the season were to end today. She has hit .700 twice already and recorded 19 kills and 7 aces at #16 Minnesota and two 10-block matches.
• Freshman DS Ryan McAleer is a regular in the back row and has recorded a perfect reception % in nine matches. Moreover, she recorded six aces at #16 Minnesota, tying as the most-ever by a Purdue freshman.
• Eva Hudson nearly had an errorless match at now-#8 Kansas, committing just one attack error in the final points of the match. This season, she is averaging 4.34 kills per set and 4.76 points per set this season.
• Chloe Chicoine owns a team-leading six double-doubles this season.

Boilermakers Wrap Up Play at Windon Memorial Classic

The Purdue men’s golf team finished 14^th at the Windon Memorial Classic that concluded Monday at Conway Farms Golf Club in suburban Chicago.

The Boilermakers tallied a 54-hole total of 34-over par 886 (299-295-292), piecing together its best round of the tournament in the final round.

Purdue finished just five shots behind East Tennessee State (+29) in 11^th place and was just behind Augusta (+32) and Indiana (+33).

Arizona won the event at 10-under par 842, while Marquette (-7) and Northwestern (+2) rounded out the top three.

Sam Easterbrook led the Boilermakers with a 25^th-place finish at 5-over par 218 (74-74-70). Nels Surtani tied for 41^st at 8-over par 221 (72-70-79).

Jenson Forrester finished tied for 52^nd at 11-over par 224 (77-78-69). Kentaro Nanayama tied for 64^th at 14-over par 227 (78-74-75). Supapon Amornchaichan was 77^th at 18-over par 231 (76-77-78).

Purdue will compete in the Fighting Irish Classic at Warren GC in South Bend on Sunday and Monday.

Natasha Kiel Finishes Runner-Up in Stacked Windy City Field

Competing in a stacked field that featured 10 teams that advanced to the national stage of the 2024 NCAA Championships, Natasha Kiel proved that she could beat some of the best golfers in the country. After going 4-under through the first 36 holes on Monday, the Boilermaker senior fired a final round 73 (+1) on Tuesday to secure runner-up honors and lead Purdue Women’s Golf at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.

Kiel (-3) collected her second Top 2 finish through the first four tournaments of the fall, along with her win at the season-opening Boilermaker Classic. Her 213 (68-72-73) matched her second lowest three-round total as a Boilermaker. She recorded Purdue’s lowest score during all three rounds at Westmoreland Country Club, making 14 birdies over 54 holes. Kiel played the final 12 holes bogey free, adding a pair of birdies on the last three holes to vault into second place.

As a team, Purdue (+43) placed 12th against the stiff competition. Momo Sugiyama (75), Lauren Timpf and Samantha Brown (78) contributed to the team’s final round score of 303 (+15). Sugiyama parred the first 10 holes of the day and added two birdies on the back nine to make up for some lost strokes. Timpf’s 5-over round was the freshman’s best golf of the tournament. Brown joined Kiel in making a team-high three birdies during the final round.Up next, the Boilermakers round out the fall slate, leaving the country for the White Sands Bahamas Invitational on Paradise Island in the Bahamas (Oct. 18-20).

Boilermakers Head to Notre Dame for Joe Piane Invitational

The Purdue cross country team returns to action this Friday with the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend.

The men and women Boilermakers will be racing in the Blue Division. The women’s 5,000m race is slated for a 10:30 a.m. start, while the men will get going with the 8,000m race around 11:15 a.m.

The Boilermakers last competed in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational back in 2022.

Last time out, the men’s team finished fifth and the women placed sixth at the Big Ten Preview in Savoy, Ill. Nathan Walker paced the men in the 8,000m race with an 11th-place finish. Payne Turney posted a 13th-place finish on the women’s side to lead Purdue.

Purdue will have two weeks off after this weekend before heading to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Oct. 19.
