2023 LB Brandon Miyazano: 'Felt right' to commit to SMU
Frisco (Tex.) linebacker Brandon Miyazono committed to SMU on Thursday, he announced on Twitter. The 6-2, 200-pounder is the second pledge for Rhett Lashlee’s 2023 class, joining local wideout Jaxon Lavender. SMU football recruiting continues to stay hot locally.
“Hometown Hero,” Miyazono said on Twitter.
For Miyazono, Lashlee connected with his brother on a recent visit, which made a huge impression on him.
“After my visit, it just felt right and my family loved it and I could see my self being there all four years and helping the team win. I’ve had a few conversations with him (Lashlee),” Miyazono told On The Pony Express on Thursday. “He made a good impression by asking about my little brother ‘Big Steppa.’ It was a fun and my whole family loved it.”
Defensive coordinator Scott Symons and analyst Warren Messer really bonded with the local defender.
“He (Symons) is a down to earth guy and he was telling me he likes the potential he sees in me. He likes my leadership and character,” he said. “I like him (Messer) a lot. He’s a good guy and good energy.”
