SMU locked in an official visit for Cedar Hill (Tex.) cornerback Alexander Rodgers for June 22, he announced on Twitter. It’s the first reported official visit for the Dallas area standout.

The Mustangs are the overwhelming leader on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Baylor. North Texas offered earlier this month while programs like Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech have also offered.

Rodgers, who transferred to Cedar Hill from Dallas (Tex.) Kimball this spring, owns a personal best 10.64 100-meter time, making him one of the top sprinters in the Dallas area.

On3 ranks Rodgers as the No. 96 overall cornerback in the country and No. 128 overall prospect in Texas. He has an 87 rating from On3.

SMU has numerous prospects coming to campus this summer for official visits. Rhett Lashlee’s staff always wants to prioritize Dallas in recruiting and Rodgers is another example of that.

“Dallas is home for a lot of these kids and they want to be able to take this program, put it on their back and take it to the next level,” running backs coach Khenon Hall said this spring.”As you know, we’re still a Group of 5 program and they want to do Power 5, but I think what coach Lashlee is building here and the family atmosphere and us embracing this Dallas brand and home and building a relationship with those guys, I think they love what we’re doing here as far as the relationship piece and they want to be a part of what we’re doing going forward.”
