2024 DB Jaylen Moses commits to SMU
2024 Carrollton (Tex.) Newman Smith safety Jaylen Moses committed to SMU, he announced on Thursday at True Buzz Media Day.
He released his Top 5 schools of UTSA, Tulane, Arkansas State, Louisiana and SMU in June. After a visit to the Hilltop, that got SMU trending in the right direction in a big way.
SMU defensive coordinator Scott Symons swung by his school in the spring and offered Moses. Symons made a good first impression on the nearby prospect, which ultimately helped land him.
“He’s a great dude. You can tell he wants to build a relationship with the players and things of that nature,” Moses said earlier this year. “He talked to me about life, and told me how I would be a great player in college and he was talking to me about going to a school that I can really see myself being successful at.

“I couldn’t believe it. It’s a great school academically. Overall, a great school.”
Since then, Moses reeled in offers like Memphis, UTSA, Tulane, Washington State and Arkansas State. He already had programs like Louisiana, Texas State and others under his belt when SMU offered.
The Mustangs have eight commitments on board in the 2024 recruiting class, which ranks atop the American Athletic Conference in average recruit ranking on the On3 Industry Ranking Team Recruiting Rankings.
Quarterback Tyler Aronson, athlete Jamyri Cauley, linebacker Zach Smith, cornerback Alexander Rodgers, safety Ka’Davion Dotson-Walker and offensive linemen Graham Uter and King Large make up SMU’s class.
