2025 4-star WR Daylon Singleton commits to SMU
2025 DeSoto (Tex.) wide receiver Daylon Singleton committed to SMU on Friday, he announced on Twitter. The news of the Mustangs heading to the ACC is paying early dividends.
This summer, the Mustangs hosted the four-star prospect for a visit and it impressed in a big way. From head coach Rhett Lashlee to wide receivers coach Rob Likens, recruiting assistants Danny Wesley and Tyler Foster, and others, SMU rolled out the red carpet.
“I think they’re building tremendously,” Singleton told On3 this summer. “Heading in the right direction into being one of the powerhouses in the state.”
Lashlee in particular impressed him and made him feel welcomed.
“He was great,” Singleton said. “He definitely made sure we talked and he made sure that I felt welcomed and very comfortable. I would love to be coached by him in the future.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Singleton ranks as the No. 246 overall prospect in the country and No. 37 wide receiver in the nation.

Programs like Auburn, Miami, Texas A&M and numerous others already offered the DFW area standout. He had some key relationships that helped him pick SMU though.
“I’m definitely on SMU,” Singleton previously told On3. “I have a great bond with Danny Wesley. I’ve known him since I was 8 or 9 years old, so I know him really well and I’m really close with him.”
Singleton joins a pair of four-star prospects in the 2025 recruiting class for the Mustangs. Athlete Demetrius Brisbon and running back Rickey Stewart were already committed.
