BREAKING: 2025 DB Nathan Tilmon commits to SMU

2025 Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview defensive back Nathan Tilmon committed to SMU, he announced on Saturday. The 6-1, 170-pound defensive back was on his second unofficial visit to SMU in three weeks when he pledged to the Mustangs.
Tilmon held offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and others. The Mustangs offered on January 20 and after that offer, Kansas State, North Texas and Michigan State offered him.
Still, after visiting on the day he was offered and then returning to the Hilltop, Tilmon committed to play for defensive coordinator Scott Symons, joining Rhett Lashlee’s program.
“Everything made SMU home. I knew when I came up there I wanted to commit today,” Tilmon told On3. “The coaches, the relationships. That’s it. It’s home. Coach Symons is a real great guy. He knows ball and I see myself playing under him.

“Coach Lashlee, he’s a great head coach. Great guy. I have a great relationship with him. He’s what’s gonna take us to the promise land.”
With Tilmon on board, SMU now has four commitments in the 2025 recruiting class. He joins four-star Duncanville (Tex.) quarterback Keelon Russell, four-star DeSoto (Tex.) wide receiver Daylon Singleton and three-star Duncanville (Tex.) defensive back Javion Holiday.
Sunday is shaping up to be a massive recruiting day for SMU as many top targets will return to campus. Tilmon’s commitment kicked off the weekend in a big way.
