BREAKING: 2025 DL Tyron Winslow commits to SMU
SMU landed a commitment from 2025 Houma (La.) H.L. Bourgeois defensive lineman Tyron Winslow on Wednesday. For defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux, it’s a huge addition for the future of his position.
The official visit earlier this month to Dallas impressed the big Louisiana defensive lineman.
“It was great,” Winslow told On3. “They really have a vision for me. They’ll develop me at the 3-tech and with five DTs graduating, I’ll have a shot at playing early. SMU has many different opportunities outside of football with their campus being a few minutes away from the city. It’s a good place to network.”
Thibodeaux was first to offer a Power Five scholarship for the 6-5, 270-pounder. He built a strong bond since that offer, beating out the likes of Houston, Louisiana, Missouri and others.
“I think Coach Thibs is a great coach, and not only a great coach, but a great human. He’s a man of God and a family man,” Winslow said. “He’s developed lots of NFL guys. The drills he does with his players, (they) showcase it all on the field.”
