BREAKING: 4-star ATH Demetrius Brisbon commits to SMU
2025 Tyler (Tex.) Chapel Hill athlete Demetrius Brisbon committed to SMU, he announced on Twitter on Thursday. The four-star prospect held offers from the likes of Arkansas, Houston, LSU, Texas and others.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Brisbon ranks as the No. 236 overall prospect in the country and No. 14 athlete in the nation. On3 has him as the No. 203 overall prospect in America.
Brisbon was on SMU’s campus earlier this year for a practice, getting to spend more time around the coaching staff.
“It was great, talked to a lot of coaches,” Brisbon told On3. “They loved my size and they think I could go out right now for the team. Showed me and Rickey Stewart a lot of attention. Love the campus and how everything is just so close to each other. I don’t have to walk a mile to class. Their practice was live and had a lot of energy out there. I think I’m a great fit there.”

Safeties coach Kyle Cooper led the way on his recruitment and the SMU staff has built a good bond with him overall.
“I like the energy that he gives me while recruiting me,” Brisbon said. “He’s telling me I could go to SMU right now and have a possibility to start on either side of the ball. Love it there.”
Brisbon was named District 9-4A-I Overall MVP as a sophomore in 2022. He nabbed Texas District 9-4A-I unanimous Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors in 2021after leading Chapel Hill to an 11-4 record and the 4A state semifinals as a freshman.
