4-star ATH Demetrius Brisbon returns to SMU
The final day before the dead period brought a top SMU target back to the Hilltop. 2025 Tyler (Tex.) Chapel Hill four-star athlete Demetrius Brisbon, who was previously committed to the Mustangs, is back at SMU.
Brisbon decommitted from SMU this week and committed to Baylor. The Mustangs are pressing for both Brisbon and four-star running back Rickey Stewart, who was also previously committed to SMU.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Brisbon ranks as the No. 339 overall prospect in the country and No. 26 safety in the nation. On3 has him as the No. 214 overall prospect in America and No. 18 overall safety.
Brisbon accumulated 5,237 yards and 69 touchdowns on 340-of-572 passing as the quarterback for Chapel Hill. He’s also added 4,493 yards rushing and and 73 more touchdowns over the last three seasons.

He’s a quarterback for Chapel Hill, but On3 projects Brisbon at safety.
“We’re projecting him long-term as a safety. I think the fact that he’s played quarterback is a good thing,” On3 national director of rankings and scouting Charles Power said this summer. “You see a lot of quarterbacks transition to play safety in college with their understanding of how offenses work and overall instinct, playmaking ability have done well at the position.”
The Junior Day on Sunday for SMU is already a big event, but it got bigger with this prospect on campus.
