SMU is the first football team to reach the ACC Football Championship Game in its first season in the conference. The Mustangs will be the 14th ACC program to play in the championship game since the inaugural title game in 2005.

The 20th ACC Football Championship Game will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on Saturday, December 7, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is the 15th time in the last 16 years that the game will be held in primetime. SMU is awaiting its opponent, whether it’s Clemson or Miami.

This year marks the first of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. The new format will include the five highest-ranked conference champions plus the next seven highest-ranked teams as determined by the CFP Selection Committee.
