The SMU Mustangs are bowl eligible for the sixth straight season after a 40-10 win over Stanford to move to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in ACC play.

Up next, SMU heads on the road to face Duke at 7 p.m. CT on ACC Network.

Here’s the blow-by-blow recap of SMU’s win over Stanford:

The Mustangs came out of the bye week with fireworks! Kevin Jennings connects with Moochie Dixon on the first play from scrimmage for a 87-yard touchdown. Mustangs lead 7-0 with 14:41 left in the 1st quarter.

The SMU defense and special teams continues the hot for the Mustangs by forcing a punt and then blocking it on 4th down. SMU ball at the Stanford 49-yard line with 12:03 in the 1st quarter.

SMU’s offense can’t take advantage of the great field position. The Mustangs went for it on 4th and 3 and Jennings’ pass sails past Bailey.

After the defense forces another stop, Kevin Jennings airs it out 45 yards to Key’Shawn Smith for the touchdown! Mustangs extend their lead, 14-0, with 4:31 in the 1st quarter.

The SMU defense stuffs three straight run plays to force the three-and-out. 2:20 left in the 1st.

Kevin Jennings is having himself a day! Jennings’ connects with RJ Maryland for his 3rd passing TD of the game… it’s still the 1st quarter. SMU leads 21-0 with 1:47 remaining in the 1st quarter.

At the end of the 1st quarter, it’s all Mustangs. SMU leads 21-0 after Kevin Jennings throw for 205 yards and 3 TDs.

Enter club takeaway in California! Deuce Harmon picks off Erik Brown at the start of the 2nd quarter.

Roderick Daniels Jr muffs a punt and gives Stanford the ball at the SMU 46-yard line with 10:55 to go in the 2nd quarter. Score remains 21-0, SMU.

Kevin Jennings tries to fit one for Matthew Hibner into a tight window and its intercepted. Stanford takes over inside the red zone with 8:23 to go in the 1st half.

Elic Ayomanor makes an outstanding catch for a Stanford touchdown. The Cardinal cut into the SMU lead as the score is now 21-7 with 6:39 left in the 2nd quarter.

The Mustangs with a much needed touchdown drive that was aided by a Stanford roughing the passer call. SMU’s lead is back up to 21 points. The score is 28-7 with 1:51 to go in the 2nd quarter.

Colin Rogers nails a 51-yard field goal as time expires to put the Mustangs up 31-7 at the end of the 1st half.

Stanford tacks on a field goal after Roderick Daniels Jr fumbles a punt return. SMU leads 31-10 with 12:54 to go in the 3rd quarter.

Both defenses settling in here and getting stops. Score is still 31-10, SMU, with 4:31 left in the 3rd quarter.

Brashard Smith has arrived with a miraculous 40-yard run to give the offense some life in this second half.

At the end of the 3rd quarter, SMU still leads 31-10.

Isaiah Nwokobia picks off Brown in the first minute of the 4th quarter to give SMU the ball back.

The offensive drive comes to nothing, but Isaac Pearson with a beautiful punt that is down at the 1-yard line. The SMU defense nabbed a safety to make it 33-10.

In the 4th quarter, the Mustangs capped another drive with an LJ Johnson touchdown run to make it a 40-10 final score.
