Butler transfer guard Chuck Harris, a 6-2, 200-pound guard, committed to SMU, he announced on Wednesday. Harris has three years to play two seasons of college basketball remaining after entering the transfer portal last month.

According to On3’s Jamie Shaw, Harris is one of the top combo guards available in the transfer portal. SMU was the first team to get Harris on campus, hosting him last month for an official visit.

With 59 career starts over 84 games, he’s notched 965 points. Harris led Butler in scoring his freshman and sophomore season before finishing fourth on the team this year at 10.4 points per game. He moved to a bench role after a concussion suffered on Jan. 28. The Bulldogs didn’t have a leading scorer above 12.9 points per game.

The veteran lead guard averaged 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season, starting 24 of 29 games played. He missed over two weeks with his concussion. SMU missed consistent free-throw shooting and Harris shot 85.3 percent from the line this year. Harris shot 83.6 percent as a freshman and 74 percent as a sophomore.

Harris also averaged just over one steal a game while notching a career-high in assists per game.

SMU also has a commitment from former Georgetown guard and former four-star guard Denver Anglin, who committed on Sunday. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard originally from Montclair, N.J. did not see much playing time this year for the Hoyas, averaging only 7.1 minutes per game and scoring 1.4 points per outing.
