2024 Cedar Hill (Tex.) EDGE Zhaiylen Scott will take his SMU official visit June 15, he announced on Twitter on Thursday. The 6-2, 215-pound prospect earned an offer from the Mustangs in January.

Programs like Memphis, Marshall, North Texas, Sam Houston, UNLV and others offered this spring on top of offers he already had from the likes of Colorado, Colorado State, Bowling Green, Texas State and others.

Scott ranks as the No. 96 overall EDGE in the nation and No. 203 overall prospect in Texas.

SMU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Scott and will look to land his commitment this summer.

Scott’s teammate, 2024 defensive back Alexander Rodgers, will visit the Hilltop later in June. Rodgers will officially visit SMU the weekend after as the Mustangs battle Kansas State for his commitment.

SMU has numerous prospects coming to campus this summer for official visits. Rhett Lashlee’s staff always wants to prioritize Dallas in recruiting and Scott is another example of that.

“Dallas is home for a lot of these kids and they want to be able to take this program, put it on their back and take it to the next level,” running backs coach Khenon Hall said this spring.”As you know, we’re still a Group of 5 program and they want to do Power 5, but I think what coach Lashlee is building here and the family atmosphere and us embracing this Dallas brand and home and building a relationship with those guys, I think they love what we’re doing here as far as the relationship piece and they want to be a part of what we’re doing going forward.”

The Mustangs currently have a pair of 2024 commitments in quarterback Tyler Aronson and athlete Jamyri Cauley.
