Game time, TV coverage announced for SMU vs. Cal, Senior Day
This week, SMU is playing to clinch a spot in the ACC Championship at Virginia. Next week, the Mustangs will host Senior Day against Cal on Nov. 30 at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2, it was announced Monday.
SMU’s in the midst of three straight sellouts at Gerald J. Ford Stadium and already set the attendance record for a season. Head coach Rhett Lashlee continues to rave about the support his Mustangs have received this season.
“Big, big shout out to our crowd and to our student section,” Lashlee said after SMU’s 38-28 win over Boston College last week. “I heard this was a Top 10 largest crowd in the history of SMU tonight. We’ve already set the attendance record for a season and we’ve got a game left. They were there in the fourth quarter when we needed them. It was loud that last drive when we got them in those must-pass situations and our D line went to work.”
Ranked No. 14 in the College Football Playoff rankings, the Mustangs are currently No. 1 in the ACC and have an opportunity against Virginia on Saturday to book their ticket to Charlotte on Dec. 7 for the ACC Championship game.

Lashlee and his team have answered the bell at every step in ACC play this season, which has put them in the conversation to win the league in the school’s first season in the ACC. This is the first time SMU has started at least 6-0 in conference play in back-to-back seasons.
“I think you saw tonight how they’re handling it,” Lashlee said. “I mean, I thought, there’s a lot of pressure, more probably put on by themselves. I mean, they just want to win. They want it. And when the game was the tightest tonight, we played our best. And so I think that’s the best evidence I can tell you for how they’re handling it. As far as how I’m handling it, I don’t know. I’m just taking it one minute at a time, but proud of our guys. Job’s not done, but we’re still in control of our destiny, and that’s all that really matters.”
SMU moved up one spot in both the Associated Press Top 25 Poll (13th) and the US LBM Coaches Poll (12th) over the weekend. Tuesday evening, the latest College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed.
