The SMU Mustangs will take on the Pitt Panthers on Saturday, Nov. 2, but it was announced on Monday the league will exercise a six-day flex window. Both teams are in the Top 25 and unbeaten in ACC play right now with the Panthers undefeated overall.

Last week, Pitt was on a bye and on Thursday, the Panthers face Syracuse, who only has one loss on the year. SMU’s fresh off a 40-10 win Saturday over Stanford to get bowl eligible and the Mustangs face Duke at 7 p.m. CT on ACC Network on Saturday.

“The Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN have announced that they will use a six-day flex to determine the kickoff times and networks for all six games in ACC play scheduled for Week 10 on Saturday, November 2,” the release said. “The game times and networks will be made on a six-day selection following the conclusion of the games in Week 9.”

Week 10 games include: Louisville at Clemson, Stanford at NC State, North Carolina at Florida State, Virginia Tech at Syracuse, Pitt at SMU, and Duke at Miami.

With that flex window, SMU is also awaiting to find out if ESPN College Gameday might make its first ever trip to the Hilltop.

SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee is excited the Mustangs are bowl eligible, but also not satisfied with that position. In their first year in the ACC, the Mustangs are tied at the top of the league and are in the College Football Playoff picture.

“It’s awesome. Seven games in to say we’re bowl eligible that’s something you’ve got to check off every year. That’s your hope,” Lashlee said after the Stanford win. “If you want to go somewhere, you’ve got to get to that point. To do it in our first year in the league is humbling. I think our guys do know we’ve just put ourselves in position to play for stuff continually down the stretch, but I don’t think we’re going to sit around and be satisfied with that’s the end result that we want, but it is a big deal, and so we’re really proud of us for that.”

As Kevin Jennings emerges as a star at quarterback for SMU, Pitt has found its quarterback in Alabama transfer Eli Holstein. Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi spoke Monday about finding quarterbacks that are the right fit for both sides when you need to nab a transfer.

“You want to find that — you want to get that guy that believes in you that you can turn him into gold,” Narduzzi said. “And I think that’s obviously what happened with Eli. To me that’s what’s happened with McCord, if obviously he wasn’t good enough to play at Ohio State or whatever. I don’t know what those issues are. But he’s phenomenal.”

An early line hasn’t been released for SMU-Pitt, but the Mustangs are 11.5-point favorites going to Duke this weekend, according to FanDuel.
