Jake Bailey injury update: Status for SMU vs. Boston College revealed

SMU wide receiver Jake Bailey will miss the Boston College game, sources told On The Pony Express on Saturday. Bailey was injured in the win over Duke and has been out with an undisclosed injury.
SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee spoke about Bailey’s status this week, calling him questionable for the game earlier this week.
“He made some progress last week,” Lashlee said about Jake Bailey’s status this week. “Not as much this week, so I would say he’s questionable day-to-day game-time decision.”
When it comes to injuries, SMU’s been able to have players step up. Tight end Matthew Hibner scored his first career touchdown last game against Pitt, taking advantage of more playing time after RJ Maryland’s season-ending injury.

Having players step up and support each other is key to a championship team, which Hibner experienced last season at Michigan.
“I mean, honestly, I think so much of being a championship team is just intangibles and I think it’s incredibly underrated, like kind of just playing for each other and being a family and being close knit,” Hibner said. “I mean, it’s funny, I scored my first touchdown, it was like the coolest moment ever and then I came to the sideline. It’s like everyone on the team is, you know, dabbing me up, slapping me on the helmet. It’s like, that’s what it’s all about. Like that’s what a championship team is about. It’s not the guys who score touchdowns.”
With Jake Bailey out, SMU wide receiver Roderick Daniels, Jr. will once again see plenty of time in the slot as the starter while one-time walk-on Carter Campbell will also get opportunities.
