JUCO DB La'Modrick Spencer commits to SMU
Hutchinson junior college defensive back La’modrick Spencer, a one-time SMU commit in the class of 2023, has committed to the Mustangs, he announced on Monday.
The former Duncanville High standout went the junior college route and after official visits to Boise State and Illinois, is coming back home.
“The visit was great. Felt like home,” Spencer told On3 of his SMU official visit last weekend.
With cornerbacks coach Rickey Hunley landing the 6-0, 180-pound defensive back, he’ll factor in at nickelback, where the Mustangs lose CJ Sanders to graduation.
In 2024, he had a huge year at Hutchinson, adding 42 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception. In 2023 in nine games, he had 14 tackles, two pass breakups and a tackle for loss.
