SMU wins their ninth straight game and officially goes undefeated in ACC play during the regular season. SMU is now 11-1 (8-0) and will take on the Clemson Tigers in Charlotte a week from tonight, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

On his first drive of the game, Preston Stone finds Key’Shawn Smith 40 yards downfield for the score! It was a perfectly placed ball into triple coverage and an impressive catch made by Smith. SMU in full control, leading 38-6. 3:38 left in the game.

Just moments after Jonathan McGill picked off EJ Caminong, Kevin Jennings finds Brashard Smith on a wheel route for the 23-yard touchdown. SMU is up 31-6 with 8:28 left in the regular season.

Colin Rogers nails 48-yard field goal

The man who leads the ACC in made field goals adds to his lead with a 48-yard FG. SMU now leads 24-6 with 9:25 to go in regulation.

Ryan Coe nails a 53-yard field goal to get Cal a little closer. SMU still leads 21-6 with 14:54 left to play.

Both offenses are struggling and taking time off the clock. The only score of the third quarter was a 40-yard field goal from Ryan Coe to get Cal on the scoreboard. 4th and 15 to start the fourth quarter for Cal.

The Mustangs are giving Cal plenty of free first downs due to self-inflicted penalties. As a result, the Bear found themselves inside the SMU 25-yard line, but their drive stalls. Cal settles for a 40-yard field goal. SMU leads 21-3 with 5:30 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and haven’t looked back since. The SMU defense is on fire with nine TFLs in the first half alone. And on the offensive side of the ball, Brashard Smith and Kevin Jennings are dealing a touchdown each. True freshman Derrick McFall also found the end zone to put the Mustangs up 21-0. Cal will get the ball to start the second half.

CAL missed opportunity

After having the ball at the SMU three-yard line on first down, the Mustang defense forced multiple negative plays and Cal was forced to settle for a 37-yard field goal attempt. To make matter worse for Cal, Derek Morris misses the 37-yard field goal and the score remains 21-0, SMU.

Both sides of the ball are in fire for SMU today. They came ready to play on senior day and are dominating this game early on. SMU starts the second quarter with a 1st and 10 from the Cal 32-yard line.

Mustangs fans got to see a glimpse of true-freshman Derrick McFall on this drive as he caught a pass fro 18 yards. To finish the drive, who else but Brashard Smith to pound in a run from five yards out? On a day where a lot of teams find themselves in tight games, the Mustangs are building a lead early in the first quarter. SMU leads 14-0 with 4:04 to go in the first quarter.

The Mustangs strike first, as they seem to always do, and lead the Cal Bears 7-0. This play was set up by an unreal grab by Brashard Smith on a 32-yard gain. Kevin Jennings ran around the pocket and eventually squeezed one into Matthew Hibner for an 11-yard touchdown. Another super impressive throw from Kevin Jennings puts the Mustangs up a score.

Both Cal and SMU were forced to punt on their openings possessions as the defenses are getting pressure on the QBs early on both sides.
