SMU enters the game 14-2 (5-2) on the season, while Louisville comes to Moody Coliseum with a 14-5 (7-1) record thus far.

This was a game to forget for the Mustangs. They never had the lead and move to 14-5 (5-3) after this loss. The Mustangs will look to bounce back on Saturday when they hit the road to take on NC State.

The game picked up right where it left off following halftime. SMU trails 58-31 as Louisville continues to find open looks and force SMU into tough shots. Louisville is dominating the box score in just about every statistic.

SMU got behind early and has not been able to catch up since. The Mustangs are stills hooting below 25% from the field, while Louisville is shooting over 50% from the three-point line and a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line. A lot of work to do for SMU in the second half if they want the final score to be respectable.

The Mustangs are one for their last 11 from the field ad haven’t scored in well over two minutes. So far that’s the major difference in this game. Not too much else to say so far. SMU trails Louisville, 24-10, with 7:57 left in the first half.

SMU is shooting 13% from the floor (2-13) and has yet to make a three-point shot. Louisville on the other hand, is efficient on the offensive end. The Cardinals are 5-9 from beyond the arc so far and lead 17-6 with 11:22 to go in the first half. The Mustangs can’t buy a basket even though they desperately need one.

Chucky Hepburn with a hot start for the Cards

The veteran in Louisville’s backcourt is on fire to start the game. Hepburn knocked down two threes in four minutes as the Cardinals lead SMU 9-4 with 15:58 remaining in the first half. SMU is struggling shooting to start as they are 2-9 from the floor and 0-2 from beyond the arc.
