Miami defensive lineman Jordan Miller entered the NCAA transfer portal and committed to SMU, he announced on Twitter. He’s the third Miami transfer to commit to the Mustangs.

Miller was a fifth-year redshirt junior in 2022 who recorded 18 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss and 1.0 sacks for the Hurricanes.

In five seasons with the Hurricanes, Miller totaled 60 tackles, 11.0 tackles for a loss and 3.0 sacks on the interior of the defensive line. He’s listed at 6 foot 4, 320 pounds.

Prior to enrolling at Miami and then later entering the NCAA transfer portal, Jordan Miller was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,250 overall recruit in the nation in the 2018 recruiting class, according to the On3 Consensus recruiting rankings. He was the No. 120 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 195 overall player in the state of Florida, hailing from Jacksonville (FL) Sandalwood.

SMU adding plenty of transfer talent

Miller joins Miami transfer defensive lineman Elijah Roberts, Miami transfer running back Jaylan Knighton, West Virginia transfer defensive back Charles Woods and Stanford defensive back Jonathan McGill as transfer commits for SMU. Head coach Rhett Lashlee and his staff are balancing preparing for the New Mexico Bowl with transfer recruiting.

“We have to be out actively recruiting, but at the same time preparing for a game in less than two weeks,” Lashlee said on Monday. “We’re out recruiting hard this week. We had a good practice over the weekend. We’ll be able to practice some this weekend and try and get in a normal game week routine in terms of leading up to the game a week from Saturday, but also still recruiting non-stop, in and out until we leave Wednesday for the bowl site.”

The Mustangs will face BYU on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
