Miami DT Jared Harrison-Hunte commits to SMU
Miami defensive lineman Jared Harrison-Hunte committed to SMU, he announced on Instagram on Sunday. The Mustangs reeled in another impressive defensive line addition for the 2024 season.
Harrison-Hunte started 11 games during the 2023 season. He finished the year with 26 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks.
Jared Harrison-Hunte signed with Miami as a three-star recruit and the No. 58 defensive lineman in the country in the class of 2019, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He came to Miami after attending Christ The King High School in New York.
As a freshman at Miami, Harrison-Hunte appeared in one game. He then saw his role increase in 2020. As a redshirt freshman that season, he appeared in eight games and made one start. Harrison-Hunte recorded 17 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks that year.

In 2021, he was one of the best defensive linemen on the team, appearing in 11 games and making eight starts. He finished the year with 18 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss.
As a fourth-year sophomore in 2022, Harrison-Hunte saw action in nine games and made two starts, finishing with 16 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks.
He then took another step forward for the Hurricanes in 2023, before entering the transfer portal.
He leaves Miami having played in 42 games, with 22 starts. He has 78 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
