Sael Reyes pulls the fake flip
12/04/2024 11:09:35 AMDeSoto (Tex.) safety Sael Reyes showed up to his signing ceremony with SMU and Texas A&M on the table. Instead of flipping to the Aggies though, he pulled the “fake flip,” only to reveal he’ll stay locked in with his commitment to the Mustangs. Reyes committed over the summer and didn’t waver in his pledge. He’s all set to enroll early on the Hilltop.
SMU beats out Baylor for Zay Gentry
12/04/2024 09:29:00 AMSMU got pushed for Anna High DB Zay Gentry by Baylor, Wisconsin and others, but the Mustangs got him across the finish line. Gentry signed without drama on the first day of the early signing period, giving the Mustangs an impressive corner duo in Gentry and Holiday.
SMU adds JUCO help with nickel corner addition
12/04/2024 08:39:49 AMSMU needed an instant impact player for the nickel spot with CJ Sanders departing and Rickey Hunley got that this week. A former Duncanville standout and one-time SMU commit, La’Modrick Spencer, signed with the Mustangs. SMU signed Duncanville standout Javion Holiday on Wednesday as well and awaits Anna High cornerback Zay Gentry to make things official.
SMU holds off Baylor to land 4-star WR Daylon Singleton
12/04/2024 08:53:26 AMBaylor hosted DeSoto (Tex.) WR Daylon Singleton a couple weeks ago for a game and the Bears made a strong push, but Singleton ultimately signed with SMU. Singleton’s been a longtime commitment for the program, dating back to last September. With Jake Bailey and Roderick Daniels departing, Singleton could factor in right away and is an early enrollee.
SMU off to big start to early signing period
12/04/2024 08:06:25 AMThe SMU Mustangs landed two big signatures before 8 a.m. CT even hit on Wednesday. Four-star offensive tackle Dramodd Odoms and four-star quarterback Ty Hawkins signed with the program. Hawkins will enroll early and protecting him in the future will be Odoms, the highest-ranked offensive line signee in modern program history. The two crown jewels were joined early in the day before Peach State DE Jalen Shivers, Louisiana DT Tyron Winslow and Arlington (Tex.) WR Isaiah Robertson.
