SMU offensive lineman Erin Smith is no longer with the SMU Football program, sources confirmed to On3. The Little Rock, Ark. native played in one game over his three years with the program.
Coming out of North Little Rock High in 2020, Smith held offers from Kansas, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State and others. He committed to the Mustangs in June 2019.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Smith was the No. 109 overall offensive tackle in the country and No. 7 prospect in Arkansas. He was a 2019 First Team All-State selection in Arkansas and also helped his team to a Class 7A runner-up finish in 2018.

The 6-5, 262-pounder was behind a few players on the offensive line. The Mustangs have returning left tackle Marcus Bryant and newcomer Hyrin White at right tackle as expected starters. With former Top 100 prospect PJ Williams, Notre Dame transfer Caleb Johnson, versatile lineman Thalen Robinson among others in the fold, Smith would’ve had a hard time seeing the field.
Smith played both defensive line and offensive line during his time on the Hilltop. He’ll graduate this year from the school with his degree.
