2026 Dallas (Tex.) Lake Highlands running back Christian Rhodes, an On300 prospect, committed to SMU, he announced via On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Rhodes made two visits in the past month and the four-star decided he’d seen enough to make his decision.
His visits stuck out to him and he’s excited to be a Mustang. The second visit though was key in his process as he was able to get closer with the program.
“It was very exciting. This is actually my second time being up here. I went to last time’s junior day,” Rhodes said. “Whenever I was here (first), I was the only running back here. Going through it and seeing it a second time really like made me like realize to narrow down some of the choices I want to make for college.”
Running backs coach Kyle Cooper and assistant running backs coach Tyler Foster both stuck out to him when it came to the visits.
“They’re a very chill crew,” Rhodes said. “I like being around them. They seem to have like a very tight family type bond so like seeing that.”

Rhodes feels at home around head coach Rhett Lashlee and his staff. He brought his whole family on his latest visit to the Hilltop.
“Probably the overall feeling of family when you walk into the place,” he added in an interview with On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “The training and rehab facilities are incredible at the sight of it. All this not including the fact that they are a great team right now, and for the future of SMU football.”
Rhodes is the No. 260 overall prospect and the No. 27 running back in the 2026 class. Miami, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, TCU and numerous others offered him.
Rhodes is the fourth commitment for the Mustangs in the 2026 class, joining three-star quarterback Cole Leinart, four-star wide receiver X’Zavier Barnett and three-star defensive lineman Yahya Gaad.
