Rhett Lashlee proud of SMU’s effort vs. Navy
Head coach Rhett Lashlee was thrilled with the way SMU was able to earn a win over the Midshipmen. The Mustangs didn’t have some of their normal total yardage numbers offensively, but the Mustangs hung in there to score 40 points on 48 plays while the defense held Navy in check much of the game.

“Obviously, we’re excited to win. As you can see, anytime you play those guys, it’s a grind,” Lashlee told reporters. “Thought we played a pretty good first half again, I think, defensively except for that last touchdown we gave up. We really had them shut out there. For the offense, I think we had four drives in the first half, scored on three of them. I thought Collin Rodgers made two big kicks for us, especially that second one was a long one when we needed it.”
“What I was proud of the guys, they didn’t get frustrated, offensively. We know that happens. A lot of times you run 48 plays it’s because you’re not playing well. It wasn’t the case tonight.”
